Job Title: Principal Environmental Enforcement Officer

Location: South London / Hybrid

Contract: 6-months ongoing

Pay: 500 to 600 per day DOE (Inside IR35)

A South London Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Environmental Enforcement Officer.

About the role:

The successful candidate will play a key role in making a demonstrable difference to building safety in High Rise Residential.

You will be responsible for enforcement under the Housing Act 2004, carrying out detailed inspections, carry out HHSRS assessments, produce schedule of works, liaise with other departments, legal counsel, the Fire Brigade and all interested parties. You will be required to manage appeals, prosecutions and act as an expert witness. The candidate must have experience, knowledge and qualifications relating to environmental health, fire safety and cladding remediation.

About you :

  • Excellent Organisation skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines, and a concern for order and accuracy.
  • Extensive experience of working within the Building Safety environment.
  • Evidence of having an appreciation of the current issues facing building safety, specifically to the multi-occupied residential buildings
  • Experience of communicating challenging topics to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of building consensus amongst diverse interest groups and stakeholders.
  • Handling high-profile partners and building effective networks with diverse groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating active listening and confident mentoring abilities. Joint inspection team training and experience is desirable. Flexible working and part time hours available.
