This is a great opportunity within a large independently owned Retail & Wholesale business.

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, this is a pivotal role within the business and will support the Retail business through business partnering, financial planning & analysis along with budgeting & forecasting and helping to drive revenue and profitability improvements.

This is an integral role that will be able to quickly add value and will be a key/trusted business advisor to the Retail division. With over 250 stores, this is already a very successful business but with continuous ambitions for growth they seek an experienced individual to join the team.

The split of this role is approximately 40% business partnering, 30% financial planning & analysis, 15% review & sign off of month end & driving financial process improvements, 15% people/team management & development.

To be a suitable candidate it is essential you are a professionally qualified with a number of years PQE and have extensive, and relevant, experience gained within a multi-side Retail organisation. You will have a proven ability to tell a story behind the numbers whilst also have the personality, integrity and credibility to challenge, empower and champion colleagues of all levels within the Retail business unit.

You will work with everyone from store level through to Regional Manager, department heads and senior management and be expected to be visible within the business, getting out and about to meet your stakeholders

You will need to have the confidence to voice opinions but be able to back this up through analysis and modelling but also be adaptable & inquisitive in your approach.

This is an exciting role that will allow you to grow and develop, whilst also manage a small and growing team.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

· Business partnering - driving ownership, accountability and understanding of financials;

· Financial planning, modelling & analysis to include:

o Store/regional/cluster profitability

o Risks & Opportunities

o Product/Retail margin analysis

o Cost analysis

· Budgeting & forecasting

· Critique of financial performance, helping to drive improvements

· Build dashboard as required to allow useful flow of information to the business

· Manage & develop a team (both local & off-shore)

  • Assist and advise on evaluation of new business opportunities and support key business decision makers

Candidate Specification:

  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with extensive PQE
  • Proven/FP&A experience gained within a multi-site Retail is essential
  • Advanced Excel with exceptional analytical skills
  • Confident, high calibre communication skills being able to gain credibility and respect from others
  • Natural gravitas with great interpersonal skills, easily able to influence and direct others whilst being able to appreciate alternative views
  • Previous team management experience
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to derive strong and actionable insights from data that can be turned into actual operational benefits
  • Self motivated, positive 'can-do’ attitude, logical, adaptable and approachable
  • Proven business partnering of multiple stakeholders
  • Able to work in a fast paced, ever changeable environment
