Financial Accounts Manager

Location: CR0 (Hybrid) 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: up to £27.10 per hour PAYE 

We are seeking a Financial Accounts Manager to oversee the delivery of financial accounts services within a local hospital. This role requires a deep understanding of financial and accounting procedures, NHS legislation, and finance policies. The successful candidate will manage the performance of the Capital Programme and ensure the integrity of capital accounting records.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Manage and enhance the financial accounts service, ensuring compliance with NHS finance policies and statutory guidelines.
  • Oversee the Capital Programme, maintaining systems of control to ensure accuracy and completeness of capital accounting records.
  • Prepare and assist in the timely production of quarterly investment reports, statutory accounts, and the Trust’s Annual Report.
  • Manage the financial accounting team, focusing on financial reporting, control accounts, and treasury management.
  • Serve as the primary contact with NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) to manage finance and accounting services effectively.
  • Work under tight deadlines, adapt to changes, and focus on delivering outstanding stakeholder service.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree in a relevant field; professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) is essential.
  • Significant experience in financial accounting within a large organisation, preferably within the NHS.
  • Proven track record of managing financial accounts and producing statutory returns.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in staff management.
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in financial software.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to both finance and non-finance staff.
