The school:

We are currently looking for a Teaching assistant to work across a School based in Croydon. The right person will be working in our SEMH school based and will be supporting 1-1 students at low ability who need academic as well as social development. There are 5-6 students in a class with one to 3 to 4 students. Our young people have struggled in mainstream education and need a positive experience. The majority of pupils are on EHCP and have been diagnosed with ADHD or SEMH. The right person will become part of a team that specialises in delivering curriculum and dealing with behaviour designed to meet individual needs and give our students the best possible educational outcomes.

The roles start after half term in October.

The environment is very challenging and require a strong person or someone up for a challenging and looking for experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Able to work with groups or 1:1 support within the classroom
  • Supporting pupils with Complex Needs, Autism & Learning Difficulties and server behaviour difficulties
  • Supervising pupils behaviour
  • Encourage, engage and support pupils with their learning & development

The School:

The school accommodate students from the age of 10 to 16, the pupils are referred from the local boroughs. They have a residential accommodation for students onsite, they are based in home surrounded by fields and Nature, and they utilise the area to help with theory, behaviour Management and understanding of environments. The school has many staff who are also trained with team teach.

They look for candidates to work one to one and in small groups with the students, you must be enthusiastic and have the knowledge or want to learn and train to work with SEND.

You must have:

  • Experience of working with children with SEN, Autism ADHD or SEMH
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • An excellent knowledge of the specialist curriculum area and how it may be effectively taught.
