EAL Teaching Assistant – Croydon

Starting immediately, we are seeking an assured EAL Teaching Assistant who can provide dedicated support to a Romanian-speaking student with SEND needs in a mainstream secondary school in Croydon.

As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will make a direct impact by helping a student overcome language barriers and access their education.
EAL Teaching Assistant position for the 2024-2025 academic year, offering a salary range of £18,750-£19,500.

EAL Teaching Assistant | Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Romanian-speaking student with SEND needs, ensuring they can fully participate in lessons and school activities.
Assist the student with language acquisition, supporting their transition to speaking and understanding English in the classroom.
Work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to implement strategies that address the student’s SEND requirements.
Create and adapt learning resources to help the student with both their EAL and SEND challenges.
Track and report on the student’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO to ensure their needs are met.

EAL Teaching Assistant | Essential Qualities:

Fluency in Romanian and English, with a strong understanding of both languages.
Previous experience in an EAL or SEND support role is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.
A passion for working with children and helping them overcome language and learning barriers.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
