Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing, employee-owned consultancy working on major infrastructure projects across the UK. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to lead high-profile projects and drive innovation within the Civils/Geotechnical team.

The role:
As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership, project oversight, and business development in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. With 70% of projects in the rail sector, experience in rail infrastructure is essential. You will work on structures including bridges, tunnels, stations, and buildings, utilizing materials such as concrete, steel, timber, and masonry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing engineering design for major rail and infrastructure projects
  • Developing conceptual designs, engineering reports, and ensuring technical compliance
  • Overseeing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring project compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Managing project budgets, timelines, and deliverables
  • Engaging with clients, building relationships, and securing new business opportunities
  • Mentoring and supporting senior engineers and junior team members
  • Representing the company at industry events and contributing to technical publications

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong experience in a relevant discipline with a proven track record of delivering major infrastructure projects
  • Rail infrastructure experience is essential
