As a Humanities Teacher, your responsibilities typically include more than just marking and planning, although those are important aspects of the role. Here are some key responsibilities you would typically have: 

• Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver a comprehensive and engaging humanities curriculum that covers essential topics in history, geography, and related social sciences. 
• Effective Classroom Instruction: Provide clear and effective instruction, utilizing innovative teaching methods, technology, and real-world examples to make complex concepts in the humanities accessible and relatable to students. 
• Student Assessment: Assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods, including quizzes, tests, projects, and discussions, and provide constructive feedback to promote academic growth. 
• Mentorship and Guidance: Foster critical thinking, empathy, and a deep understanding of diverse perspectives in students, guiding them towards their academic and personal development, and preparing them for future opportunities in various fields. 
• Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and organized classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and a strong passion for the humanities among students. 
• Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of humanities education, bringing current insights into the classroom and participating in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. 

The successful candidate for Humanities Teacher will have: 

• Qualified Teacher Status (ideally PGCE, GTP, BEd, Cert Ed, BA with QTS) in Humanities or a related field. 
• Prior experience teaching humanities subjects to secondary school students. 
• Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment methods in humanities. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. 
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. 
• DBS on Updated Service.
