Description

Role Purpose and Role Dimensions:

The post holder, working in partnership with LBC Public Health Substance Misuse team, LBC Substance Misuse Provider, Croydon's Voluntary and Community Sector and the full Childrens and Young People Directorate Practices and other relevant services, will provide a client-centred, evidence-based, non-judgemental and recovery-orientated service aimed at supporting, advising and helping young people and adults, affected by a range of problem substance use issues to reduce, control and cease that use.

The core function of this role is the delivery of positive safety and well-being outcomes for children and families who are affected by substance misuse. You will be responsible for creating, developing and maintain partnerships working with all identified stakeholders.

Key Duties:

The role will be responsible for:

  • Providing support, information and advice to individuals in relation to substance misuse, as appropriate.
  • Improving access to appropriate services for young people, adults and 'whole families'.
  • Liaising and working in partnership with relevant agencies/departments and be a point of contact for other agencies/professionals
  • Delivering awareness and/or training sessions to external stakeholders as required.
  • Having a multi-agency approach and commitment to producing the infrastructure to promote and respond to the health needs of Social Care and Early Help Service Users.
  • Attending and presenting at governance boards that have a need or impact upon the Substance Misuse service
  • High quality assessments and intervention plans.
  • Lead on Substance Misuse training for all colleagues across the directory.
  • To work and in conjunction with the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team to provide relevant and immediate information regarding a service user's current and historical involvement with substance misuse services and supporting MASH processes relating to safeguarding.
  • To liaise with substance misuse provider - Change Grow Live (CGL) - in cases that require drug testing and treatment requirements as needed, ensuring that the requirements of any Order are met.
  • Substance Misuse specialist will work with MASH Early Help Triage to raise awareness and support the appropriate referral routes through case consultation and Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG).

Essential Knowledge:

>Knowledge of National Treatment Agency and National Institute for Clinical Excellence Guidelines. Sound knowledge of drugs, their effects, and models of intervention as treatment.

>Sound experience working in the addiction field or a transferrable setting.

>Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, standards and procedures.

Essential Experience:

>Substantial experience of working with children, young people and adults who use drug and/or alcohol and those at risk of substance misuse.

>Recent experience of managing a caseload, with the ability to undertake high quality assessments and devise bespoke intervention plans to address identified need.

>Demonstrable experience of devising and delivering effective training to a variance of audiences.

>Experience of identifying and raising safeguarding concerns through the appropriate channels; with the ability to manage conflict and challenging behaviours.
