About the Role:

Are you passionate about supporting students to reach their full potential? Our mainstream secondary school in Croydon is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in education or youth support, who is keen to make a positive impact on students' lives.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who may require additional support in managing their behaviour and emotions. Your role will be to provide 1:1 mentoring, small group support, and interventions to help students improve their social, emotional, and behavioural development. You will work alongside teaching staff and the pastoral team to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural or emotional challenges
  • Implement strategies to support students in managing their behaviour and emotions in the classroom and around school
  • Work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to monitor and track students' progress
  • Act as a positive role model, offering guidance, support, and encouragement to students
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them overcome barriers to learning
  • Support students during transitions and help them develop coping strategies
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour
  • Support with the delivery of targeted interventions and behaviour plans


About You:

  • Experience: Experience working with young people in an education or support capacity is highly desirable. A background in youth work, SEN support, or similar is beneficial.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Empathy & Patience: You must be patient, understanding, and resilient, with a strong desire to help students succeed.
  • Knowledge: A good understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies is essential.
  • Qualifications: While not essential, a relevant qualification in education, psychology, or youth work would be advantageous.
