General Maintenance
Carry out a range of maintenance tasks including painting, minor carpentry, basic plumbing, and simple electrical work. Repair fixtures and fittings, such as door handles, locks, light fittings, and furniture.
Building Upkeep
Perform routine inspections of the premises to identify any potential issues.
Report and address maintenance problems promptly, either completing minor repairs personally or arranging for specialised contractors when necessary.
Keep all work areas tidy and safe, ensuring tools are appropriately stored and maintained.
Health & Safety Compliance
Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations, identifying and resolving potential hazards.
Follow safe working practices and use relevant personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
External Contractor Liaison
Collaborate with external suppliers or trades people, overseeing their work to ensure it meets required standards.
Obtain quotes for more significant repairs or refurbishments and present them for approval.
Customer and Office Support
Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, and basic equipment set-up.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and tenants, providing high levels of customer service.
Communicate effectively with the Facilities/Office Manager and other team members to keep everyone informed of ongoing tasks and timeframes.
Ad-hoc Duties
Support the office team with miscellaneous tasks that may arise, such as overseeing deliveries or managing waste and recycling processes.
Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role, as directed by management.
Experience & Personal Attributes:
Essential:
- Proven experience in a handyman or general maintenance role.
- Good practical skills in carpentry, painting, basic plumbing, and simple electrical tasks.
- Understanding of health and safety best practice in a working environment.
- Basic IT literacy (for logging maintenance tasks and communicating via email).
Desirable:
- Any relevant vocational qualification (e.g. City & Guilds in a maintenance or construction discipline).
- Valid UK driving licence.
