About the Role:Marks Consulting Partners is excited to be recruiting on behalf of a lovely housing association for a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Assistant Scheme Manager to join their team in Croydon. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in supporting elderly residents, working in sheltered or independent living environments. The position is for 20 hours per week, with a view for the role to transition to a permanent position in the future.

You will work as part of a supportive team to ensure that the residents, all over the age of 60, have a high standard of housing and care in a friendly, caring environment. This scheme includes both sheltered and general needs accommodation, and the role involves supporting residents to live as independently as possible while ensuring their wellbeing and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support to residents, ensuring their needs are met and promoting independence.

  • Assist with the management of the sheltered housing scheme, ensuring the accommodation is safe, secure, and well-maintained.

  • Build positive relationships with residents, supporting them with any queries or concerns they may have, and helping to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.

  • Support with tenancy management, including maintaining accurate records, conducting welfare checks, and liaising with other departments such as maintenance and housing management.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of resident activities and events that enhance the community spirit and social engagement of residents.

  • Act as the first point of contact for residents, providing advice and support on a variety of housing and welfare-related matters.

  • Liaise with external agencies, social services, and other health and social care professionals to ensure residents have access to appropriate support services.

  • Ensure the scheme is compliant with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

About You:

  • Experience working with elderly people, ideally within a housing, care, or sheltered accommodation setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with older residents and colleagues.

  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience when dealing with sensitive situations.

  • Organisational skills and the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Understanding of the issues that affect older people, particularly in relation to independent living and welfare.

  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and safeguarding procedures.

  • Experience with tenancy management, basic admin, and record-keeping is desirable but not essential.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar assistant scheme manager or care-related role.

  • Knowledge of housing policies and services for older people.

  • First aid qualification (or willingness to undergo training).

  • DBS checked (or willingness to undergo one if required).
