Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Education Support Worker to join our team at SEN schools in Croydon. The role willprovide essential support and guidance to students with special educational needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with students, providing them with emotional and educational support.
  • Support SEN students in developing their social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide one-to-one and group mentoring sessions to support students' academic and personal development.
  • Monitor and track progress, and communicate effectively with families and colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a SEN school or similar setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to the needs of individual students.
  • Relevant qualifications in mentoring, counseling, or education support is preferred.

Day-to-Day:

  • Provide individual and small-group mentoring sessions to SEN students.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement personalised learning plans.
  • Support students during challenging moments, providing guidance and de-escalation when necessary.
  • Engage with families to provide feedback on student progress and collaborate on support strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and interventions in the field of special education and mentoring.
