About the Learning Support Assistant Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our Year 3 team in Croydon. This full-time position requires a commitment to supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) and a passion for fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities:
  • Individual Support: Provide one-to-one and group support to Year 3 pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher in preparing and delivering engaging learning activities tailored to the needs of SEN pupils.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement and support positive behaviour strategies to create a conducive learning environment.
  • Personal Care: Provide personal care and assistance as required, ensuring the well-being and dignity of all pupils.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and record pupil progress, providing detailed feedback to teachers and parents to support ongoing development.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Inclusive Environment: Promote an inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and engagement from all pupils.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is essential.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of SEN practices and strategies to support diverse learning needs.
