Are you a patient, caring, and dedicated individual looking to make a real difference in a child's life? We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal child in a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Croydon.

The Role:
  • Provide tailored support to a non-verbal child, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential communication and social skills.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement strategies that support the child's learning and emotional needs.
  • Use communication aids (e.g., PECs, Makaton, or similar tools) to facilitate understanding and expression.
  • Create a positive and safe learning environment to foster the child's confidence and independence.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly non-verbal or communication needs.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn alternative communication methods (e.g., PECs, Makaton, or assistive technology).
  • A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a passion for helping children achieve their potential.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
  • A willingness to undertake relevant training if needed.
