The School and Role

I'm recruiting on behalf of an excellent Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) School based in Croydon. They are looking for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, to support pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties, ADHD and Severe Social Anxieties.

They offer a nurturing approach to education and social development and employ a therapy team, working in a range of different disciplines such as play, music, drama, art and family and Lego therapy. They also have strong working relationships with CAMHS, the School Nursing Service and with the Early Help & social care teams.

The desired Special Needs Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have a passion to teach outside of a mainstream environment, and a commitment to experience the unique opportunities of a special school
  • Have ability to motivate pupils towards high achievement is essential.
  • Have Excellent teamwork, classroom and communication skills
