We are supporting a Special school in Croydon with their search for a dedicated Class Teacher to join our vibrant team. This role involves being responsible for the education and welfare of designated classes or groups of pupils, aligning with the school's aims, objectives, and policies. The ideal candidate will share in the corporate responsibility for the wellbeing and pastoral care of all pupils and carry out any reasonable instructions given by the Principal or Senior Leadership Team.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Plan and deliver differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups, promoting progression, continuity, and quality of learning.
  • Employ a variety of teaching and learning styles, including best practice approaches for supporting pupils with autism.
  • Manage learning interruptions and dysregulations to maintain a purposeful environment for teaching and learning.
  • Organise and maintain a stimulating working environment appropriate for the range of activities and needs of the pupils.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with both pupils and staff, working cooperatively and sharing expertise.
  • Consistently assess pupils’ progress across all curriculum areas, using data effectively to inform planning and set appropriate targets.
  • Maintain effective records of pupil progress and report overall achievement in line with school policy and statutory requirements.
  • Attend and lead assemblies, supervise pupils in various settings, and participate in staff meetings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience in managing a classroom and delivering a curriculum that accommodates diverse learning needs.
  • Strong understanding of the best practices for supporting pupils with autism and managing learning interruptions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and establish good relationships with parents, carers, and multi-agency colleagues.
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to contribute to in-service training.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
