Long Term Futures are working with a welcoming primary school in Croydon, CR7, which has a dedicated SEN provision for children with speech, language, and communication needs. The school is seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Support Assistant to provide targeted interventions supporting children with speech delays, language processing difficulties, and ASD.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the SEN team to support children with speech, language, and communication needs
  • Assist in adapting lesson materials to ensure accessibility, using visual aids such as pictures, symbols, and flashcards
  • Provide 1:1 and small group interventions, focusing on communication and social interaction skills
  • Collaborate with Speech and Language Therapists, SENCOs, and teachers to implement personalised learning strategies
  • Track student progress, contributing to individual learning plans and adjusting support strategies as needed

Candidate Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a school or SEN setting is essential
  • A background in Speech and Language Therapy support, SEN, or a related field is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of communication difficulties, including speech delays, language processing disorders, and ASD
  • Ability to engage students in creative and interactive learning
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, working effectively as part of a team
