Here at GXO, we’re working together with B&Q and are looking for Driver Mate to join our Store to Home team in Croydon (CR0 4YA).

You’ll be working on a full-time, permanent basis, on an ‘Any 5 days out of 7’ pattern, contracted to 40hrs per week, with start time at 09:00. This role will require flexibility as you will be working on a 3 week rota pattern (provided in advance) including weekends.

As a Drivers Mate, you’ll receive:

  • An hourly rate of £13.05, that is an annual salary of £27,144.00

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Work as a part of two-person team delivering products to customer premises (room of choice) on multidrop basis – an average of 16 drops per day off peak and 24 drop per day in peak season
  • Assist the delivery driver in parking and manoeuvring a company vehicle as well as loading and unloading of vehicles as and when required
  • Provide effective customer service while ensuring goods are delivered in excellent condition
  • Ensure that customers are kept informed of their estimated time of delivery and any issues are communicated in a polite and courteous manner

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Experience of dealing with multi drop home delivery preferred but not essential
  • Excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal
  • Willingness to complete manual handling tasks such as pulling, lifting, and pushing
  • Can do attitude with a knack for problem solving
  • Willingness to undertake pre-employment Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS Check)
  • Be prepared to commute to Croydon (CR0 4YA) for the required shift pattern
