Sales and Operations Manager - Food Industry

Job Overview:

This is a fast-paced, multi-tasking role within the food industry, responsible for managing every order through the sales order process from beginning to end. You will coordinate both internally and externally to ensure timely delivery to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Order Management:Handle all customer orders, whether via EDI or direct, and input them onto SAGE.
  • Customer Coordination:Work with customers to agree on best before dates and delivery dates.
  • Stock Coordination:Collaborate with the factory and stock room to ensure the availability of food stock with the right shelf life.
  • Stock Room Planning:Assist the stock room in planning their tasks, including necessary labelling and packing to meet dispatch deadlines.
  • Dispatch Coordination:Arrange and book pick-ups and deliveries, regularly communicating with transport companies for pricing and quotes.
  • Export Documentation:Create necessary export paperwork and obtain documents from local authorities.
  • Stock Management:Ensure correct stock rotation and highlight any over or under stocks to avoid shortages.
  • Risk Assessment:Check all new customers on Risk Disk and assess risk/credit terms.
  • Invoicing:Invoice all orders, ensuring relevant discounts are applied.
  • Customer and Price File Maintenance:Maintain customer and price files on SAGE.
  • Credit Control:Work with finance on credit control, chase payments, and ensure no supply to overdue customers.

Requirements:

  • Experience:Previous experience in a similar sales administration role within the food industry, ideally in a manufacturing business.
  • Software Proficiency:Confident in using SAGE 50 or similar sales order processing software.
  • Organisational Skills:Highly organised, good at planning and prioritising work, and able to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving:Intelligent with a good memory and common sense for resolving new challenges.
  • Attention to Detail:Accurate and detail oriented.
  • Technical Skills:Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Personal Attributes:Enthusiastic, positive, and keen to learn and grow with the company.
