Essential Skills / Competencies / Experience required

  • Driving licence
  • Proven horticulture knowledge and experience
  • 3 years' experience within grounds maintenance
  • Proven good attendance and performance record
  • Proven communication skills
  • Ability to use and maintain a variety of commercial grounds maintenance equipment across the company independently
  • A practical mindset
  • The fitness to handle the physical requirements of the job

Desirable Skills

  • Grounds Maintenance Team Leader experience
  • PA1 & PA6 spraying certificate
  • Trailer use and experience

What will your role look like?

Your responsibilities include:

  • Delivering a scheduled round of works
  • Effective management of customers' expectations on site
  • Leading and developing your team
  • Carrying out horticultural and grounds maintenance related tasks
  • Use of commercial grounds maintenance equipment
  • Maintenance of van and machinery

Operational Requirements

  • Ensuring the van is loaded with the correct kit and sundries as required for the day
  • Working within the schedule and planning ahead for the week – preventing any last-minute problems and ensuring all scheduled works are completed
  • Working to site specifications – covering all outlined areas to the required standard
  • Working in line with best horticultural practice
  • Provide feedback where required to your line manager
  • Basic maintenance of vans and equipment
  • Organising Operatives workload
  • Contributing to the Operatives development
  • Ensure you and your fellow team member are adhering to the following:
    • Attendance – Arrive for work before the scheduled start time
    • Uniform – Wear the Countrywide branded uniform at all times
    • PPE – Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment as required. Safety boots at all times
    • Health and Safety – Follow H&S guidelines as per Countrywide documentation and manufacturers guidelines

What can you expect in return?

  • Sick Pay: As a small business, they currently do not offer sick pay other than Government Statutory scheme
  • Holidays: 1-5 years' service = 20 days + bank holidays | 6-7 years' service = 22 days + bank holidays | 8-10 years' service = +1 holiday per annum
  • Van: Company Van provided for commuting to work
  • Pension: Optional pension scheme. Employer contributes 3% of salary, employee contributes 5% of salary
    • Breaks: 45mins unpaid
    • Overtime: Available where required
      • Mon – Fri: 1.33x
      • Sat: 1.5x
