Quantity Surveyor – Wind Farm Project | Ayrshire | Permanent

On behalf of our client – a well-established and reputable civil engineering contractor operating predominantly within the energy sector – we are seeking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis. This position will be based on a wind farm project in Ayrshire, with occasional travel required to meet business needs.

This is an excellent time to join the business as it continues to grow from strength to strength. You’ll be part of a collaborative team responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects, from tender through to final account. You will provide vital commercial support to operational teams and others, ensuring that works are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, carbon efficiency, health & safety, and client satisfaction.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to become part of a dynamic, supportive, and forward-thinking team with a market-leading contractor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and submitting monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Ensuring valuations are maximised, certified, and paid in a timely manner.
  • Managing contract variations efficiently and in line with deadlines.
  • Producing accurate cost and value forecasts across all trade packages.
  • Supporting the operational team in securing labour, materials, and subcontractors to ensure timely and budget-conscious project delivery.
  • Measuring and valuing completed works in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Monitoring on-site progress and issuing contractual notices as required within specified timeframes.
  • Vetting quotations to ensure compliance with project specifications and securing the most competitive pricing.
  • Preparing and agreeing final accounts.
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities to maximise value and reduce costs.
  • Managing subcontractor accounts accurately and proactively to support project success.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience in both pre- and post-contract Quantity Surveying on large-scale construction projects.
  • Prior involvement in wind farm, renewables, or water infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of standard construction contract terms and commercial procedures.
  • Commercial awareness of how cost impacts programme delivery and construction strategy.
  • Proficiency with key cost management software tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders alike.
