Vacancy: Transport Shift Manager

Location: Witney, Oxfordshire

Salary: 39,000 per annum

JHP Recruitment are seeking an experienced Transport Shift Manager to join our distribution and haulage client based in Witney, Oxfordshire on a full-time, permanent basis.The successful candidate will have proven experience managing haulage and multi drop delivery operations and will be highly proficient in team-building and motivating staff.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Liaising with planning department and warehouse to ensure daily delivery schedule and service level are consistently met with maximum capacity utilisation and full optimisation of fleet
  • Briefing and debriefing all drivers as required using various computer packages
  • Managing driver hours within constraints of all current legislation always ensuring maximum cover for the operation
  • Monitoring WTD hours and give guidance and training when necessary
  • Managing holidays, sickness and absence for drivers
  • Carrying out full and documented investigations into all accidents and incidents
  • Ensuring compliance of all reporting staff with company policies and procedures
  • Ensuring vehicle defect procedures are strictly followed and liaising with workshops to limit down-time to the absolute minimum

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years transport operations experience
  • Proven management of fleet resources of over 30 vehicles
  • Excellent knowledge of transport and driver legislation
  • Experience in productivity monitoring
  • National CPC holder (desirable but not essential)
  • Good understanding of stock receiving/control in general haulage
