Location: Cwmbran, NP44 3AX, South Wales
Salary: Starting at £35-40k per annum, negotiable DOE
Contract: Permanent, Full time
Basic Hours: Monday-Thursday: 8am - 5pm / Friday: 8am - 2.30pm (it will on occasion be required that the successful applicant works outside of these hours so some flexibility will be needed)

CAD Designer - About the role:

As an experienced CAD designer, you are expected to produce detailed working drawings from both architects/designers' drawings and survey measurements.

You will be able to format these into a presentable sign-off package for customer approval prior to production as well as producing cutting sheets and production drawings for workshop construction and installation.

This role can involve problem solving and the integration of various materials to achieve the desired finish of the customer.

It would be advantageous if you have experience in drawing complex 3D stair components in Solidworks before programming cutting paths for a 5-axis CNC using Solidcam, however training will be provided if not.

Duties:

As an experienced CAD designer, you will be expected to take ownership of:

Producing detailed working drawings &3D visuals from both architects/designers' drawings and survey measurements.
Producing clear and accurate sign-off drawings for customers approval and workshop production.
Liaising with architects and designers to coordinate design concepts into the production process
Designing staircases from scratch using specialised software (training will be provided)
Designing and programming toolpaths for complex 3D components.
Producing cutting lists based on drawings for material ordering and machining

Be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team
Be able to complete work to tight schedules and deadlines
Be computer literate to a high standard
Be able to interpret and work from architectural plans/drawings
Carry out any other duties within the business as may be allocated from time to time.
Maintain a high level of customer service and professional manner

CAD Designer - Person specification:

Required:

Experienced in using a range of 3D Modelling software i.e. AutoCAD, Solidworks, Sketchup etc.
Experience of working from plans/concept images to produce complex 3D designs
Experience of dealing with customers face-to-face, over the phone or by email
Up-to-date and clean driving licence
Experience of operating CAM software to create machine toolpaths from 3D designs.

Desired:

Any applicable qualifications/certifications
Previous experience working with timber and an understanding of timber product manufacturing techniques.
Experience working with Staircon (specialised Stair design software)
Experience of collaborating with workshop staff to plan production methods for products.
