We are looking for a Stress Engineer F/M/D for Safran Seats in Cwmbran (Wales). In this position, you will provide analytical guidance in structural and occupant injury simulation, working closely with other functions such as Design, Certification and Production to ensure that seating products are lightweight, durable and safe throughout their working life.

Description

* Be able to plan and manage own and a limited number of others stress activities for a specific program* Manages self and technically supports junior stress engineers to ensure tasks are completed to requirements of time, cost and quality* Assist with identifying certification test failure risk, an ensure it is managed effectively and minimized with the use of appropriate analytical methods and judgement* Prepare, review and approve hand calculations, linear static, non-linear, crash, multi-body dynamic and optimization FE models for seating products to support the design and certification process, plus the in-service life of the product* Identify structural design issues and recommend improvements and alternate solutions* Provide expertise in continuous improvement of department processes, methods and manuals* Be innovative in their approach to problem solving. Ensure that innovative and creative ideas are supported, evaluated and investigated to conclusion

Profile

  • Educated to Degree level within an Engineering capacity
  • Extensive experience (3 years minimum) of working within stress engineering, all industries considered
  • Experience of using FEA analysis - Software like Hyperworks would be desirable but others will be considered
  • Preferably a working knowledge of regulations FAR/CS 25-561, EASA Part 21 J, ARP 5526 and Airframer specifications
  • Supporting root cause analysis (e.g. 8D/Ishikawa)
