Lab Technician - £14.83ph plus Hol Pay - DagenhamStart immediately for three months initially

FOCUS OF THIS ROLE

  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of experiments with insects including mosquitoes and other insects in the laboratory. This will involve exposure to insect bites.
  • Assist with insectary work including rearing mosquitoes and other insects as required.
  • Source materials and equipment for experiments.
  • General laboratory duties, including preparation of chemicals.
  • Assist with the safe and accurate conduct of projects according to quality standards.
  • Assist with other administrative and research activities as required.

We are interested in hearing from Lab Technician's who have the following skills and abilities:

  • Good technical laboratory skills relevant to the role; to include experience of working with insects.
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field is essential, Masters would be preferred.
  • Ability to carry out accurate scientific experiments.
  • Ability to cope with the physical demands of the role e.g. moving equipment and supplies, manual handling tasks and a flexible approach to working.
  • Experience in laboratory technical support work in a Higher Education / Research setting.
  • Competence in laboratory safety, preferably within the Higher Education / Research sectors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable interest in science.
