Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Service Manager within the Assessment Team to work Full Time based in Barking & Dagenham.

The salary for this permanent Service Manager job is up to £71,850 per annum.Main duties:

  • Provide string, visible service leadership and professional supervision in order to motivate, manage and develop service staff to deliver a culture of high-quality performance and continuous improvement.
  • Directly supervise and appraise multiple managers, who are each responsible for multiple teams made up of social workers, Intervention Workers, partners &/or students.
  • Set up and ensure the maintenance of appropriate electronic systems to ensure that performance targets are monitored and met and that areas of performance risk identified are assessed in a timely way.
  • Keep an oversight of the court work within the service and ensure compliance with court timetables, giving clear instructions to legal colleagues.
  • Use audit tools for the regular audit of casework across the Service and to utilise audit findings to ensure that practice standards are met or exceeded and to take timely corrective action if required.
  • Provide operational performance information to Children’s Leadership to enable them to monitor that services are delivering results according to agreed strategy, performance objectives and service level agreements.
  • Hold service responsibility for ensuring that all staff execute their statutory duties to children in need, children in need of protection and children in care in an effective and timely way.
  • Hold leadership responsibility for an area of service development and be accountable for performance in this area across service boundaries, including developing and implementing new initiatives.
  • Chair complex meetings as required, including but not limited to legal planning meetings, pre-proceedings meetings and complex strategy meetings.
  • Manage delegated service budgets within agreed financial parameters and ensure that the service operates in compliance with relevant legislation, statutory duties and council policies to manage financial risk appropriately.
  • Provide and enhance own professional development in accordance with the Professional Capabilities Framework and the registration requirements of the appropriate statutory body.
  • Take responsibility for continuing self-development and participate in training and development activities.

Requirements of this Service Managerrole:

  • A Social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Relevant Social Work experience.
