Assistant Transport Manager 

£28k - £35k DOE

9am-6pm

Our well-established client working within the construction industry are looking to onboard an ambitious and results driven Assistant Transport Manager to join their already flourishing team!

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful and well renowned organisation with a view for the right candidate to be put through their Transport Management CPC. You will be joining a rapidly growing business where hard work and dedication is rewarded. Previous experience within a similar role or company is a necessity. Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the planning of 9 company vehicles (mainly in London) ensuring deliveries are met in the quickest and most cost effective manner
  • Supervise and monitor the transport team (9 drivers and 1 office based member of staff) 
  • Monitor compliance within the transport department
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance for the business 
  • Dealing with customers daily on any transport related queries 
  • File and monitor accurate records of delivery 
  • Be a part of the recruitment process within the transport department 
  • Oversee loading process to ensure timely deliveries 
  • Analysis of transport data to identify areas of improvement
  • Act as a number two to the Transport Manager in relation to cost and budgeting 
  • Manage the transport operation for the branch in the Transport Manager's absence 

Requirements:

  • Route planning and fleet management experience is essential 
  • Excellent levels of geographical knowledge (especially in London)
  • Management of KPI's 
  • Knowledge of transport regulations and compliance 
  • Supervisory experience 
  • Excellent levels of communication 
  • Flexible with working hours 
  • FORS experience
