We are seeking a skilled and qualified FRA (Fire Risk Assessment) Carpenter to join our team. The successful candidate will specialize in the installation, maintenance, and remediation of fire doors and other fire-rated structures, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of safety and compliance. This role requires travel across sites in Southampton, Brighton, London, Kent, and Essex.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fire Door Installation: Perform installation of fire-rated doors, including full door sets, ironmongery, closers, seals, and drop seals, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards (e.g., BS 476, BS EN 1634).
- Fire Door Remedials and Upgrades: Conduct repairs, upgrades, and remedials on existing fire doors to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including adjustments to hinges, locks, and seals, and ensuring appropriate clearances.
- Inspections and Assessments: Conduct regular fire door inspections, documenting conditions, identifying deficiencies, and proposing remedial actions as required.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all installations and repairs comply with relevant fire safety regulations and standards, such as BM Trada Q-Mark or equivalent certification.
- Site Work and Client Interaction: Work across various client sites, maintaining professional communication with site managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Safety and Quality Control: Follow best practices in health and safety and ensure the integrity of all fire-rated installations. Document work completed with attention to detail for compliance records.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry/Joinery; Fire Door Installer certification is preferred (BM Trada Q-Mark or FIRAS).
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fire door installation, inspection, and remedial works.
- Certifications: Valid CSCS card, SSSTS certification preferred. Additional certifications such as PASMA, IPAF, and Asbestos Awareness are advantageous.
- Skills: Proficient in the use of fire-rated materials, including fire caulks, sealants, intumescent products, and fire-resistant boards. Ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel to various sites within Southampton, Brighton, London, Kent, and Essex.
- Other Requirements: Full UK driving license, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and commitment to continuous learning in fire safety practices.
