Our client an education charity based in Dagenham is seeking a Lead Youth Development Worker to join their team. Working within the Young Peoples Services team you will mentor and support young people in their schools and on their estates that are at risk of becoming involved in Serious Youth Violence to through 1-2-1s, after school and positive activities and holiday programmes, and recruit adults in the community to be mentors.

Key responsibilities include:

Provide line management to 2-3 YDWs liaising with their schools, conducting observations, 1-2-1s and leading supervision in addition to providing daily telephone support.

Visit an additional positive activity per week and provide a report with constructive feedback re. attendance, engagement, safeguarding and other areas of good practice.

Hold a mix of school referrals and community referrals.

About you:

  • Minimum two years experience working with young people at risk or involved in serious youth violence.
  • Experience in managing safeguarding incidents.
  • The ability to develop relationships with secondary schools, parents, and young people.
  • The ability to relate, empathise and support disaffected young people in order to encourage development.
