About the Role:
Midlothian Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Children and Families Social Worker to join our dynamic team. As a social worker, you will play a vital role in safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children and young people across the region. You will work closely with families, schools, and partner agencies to provide high-quality support and interventions that help families thrive and ensure the safety and development of children in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage the needs of children and families, ensuring a child-centred approach in all decisions.
  • Provide timely, evidence-based interventions to safeguard children and reduce risk.
  • Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with families and other agencies.
  • Engage with multi-agency professionals, including health services, education, and the police, to deliver coordinated support for families.
  • Manage a caseload and ensure all work complies with statutory guidelines and best practice standards.
  • Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and training to continuously improve service delivery.
  • Prepare reports for Child Protection Case Conferences, Children's Hearings, and other legal proceedings, as required.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and families, focusing on positive outcomes and emotional well-being.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).
  • Registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or eligible for registration.
  • Demonstrated experience in child protection, family support, and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
