We are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage the accounting department and supervise financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Description
- Take charge of preparing and completing all group financial statements, including primary statements, accounting policies, and notes to the accounts.
- Assist in developing financial plans that align with corporate and service strategies.
- Help prepare financial papers and strategies for Cabinet and other committee meetings.
- Deliver high-quality financial information, collaborating with budget holders to ensure smooth delivery of the annual budget.
- Work closely with budget holders and key stakeholders to ensure accurate accruals and consistent reporting.
- Assist with gathering and analysing information to support the coordination of the Group's Medium-Term Financial Plan and Capital Programme.
- Provide essential financial management support to Directors, including overseeing budget management.
Profile
The successful Accountant should have:
- A finance qualification (CIMA, CIPFA, ACA or ACCA) with at least 2 years' experience at a senior level.
- Experience of managing a finance team
- Advanced Microsoft Excel financial modelling skills are essential
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify key insights
- Solid understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and valuation techniques
