Position: Health & Safety Officer
Location: Darlington, with North East and occassional National travel
Contract: Full-time (up to 40 hours per week), Monday to Friday (Part-time contracts available)
Salary: £27,500 per annum (pro rata for part-time)
Benefits: 28 days' holiday per year including bank holidays (pro rata), 3-month probation period, and a commission structure on sales generated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage directly with clients to coordinate, support, and advise on all health and safety matters
  • Develop comprehensive documentation to meet the growing needs of businesses
  • Stay updated with legislative changes and communicate these effectively to clients
  • Create and implement bespoke policies, risk assessments, and method statements
  • Conduct audits, investigations, and develop action plans to address deficiencies
  • Attend on-site inspections, audits and investigations
  • Assist clients with accreditation such as CHAS, Constructionline and Safe Contractor
  • Actively engage and acquire new clients to drive business development
  • Regularly review and update policies to ensure compliance with legislation
  • Maintain accurate client records using CRM software
  • Provide top-tier advice on best practices via phone and face-to-face meetings
  • Participate in weekly strategy meetings and proactively manage client accounts

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (please do not apply if you do not have this qualification)
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • GCSEs in Maths & English (minimum grade C or grade 4)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Full, clean driver's licence

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH Fire Certificate
  • Strong initiative and a proactive approach to tasks
  • Familiarity with the services provided by the WE DO Group

  • Experience in delivering safety advice and best practices in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and recognize when to seek support
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Confident in making and receiving phone calls
  • Team-oriented with the ability to take initiative

  • Professional in maintaining client and team relationships
  • Discreet in handling confidential information
