We are looking to recruit on behalf of our client a Fabrication Manager to join their existing team on a permanent basis.

Health & Safety

  • To monitor and control the health & safety within the fabrication operation and surrounding areas.
  • Be responsible for reporting accidents and near misses to the General Manager.
  • Be responsible for housekeeping control ensuring a safe working environment for all.
  • Ensure plant checklists are completed by all on a daily basis.

Quality

  • Reporting of all non-conformances produced within the fabrication operation.
  • Ensure that all measuring equipment is utilised within accordance to the company quality system.
  • Be responsible for completing the inspection of individual items prior to despatch or effectively.
  • delegate the task whilst maintaining responsibility and inform the General Manager of any identified.
  • delinquencies.
  • Maintain a disciplined approach to the paperwork utilised within the ISO 9001:2008 and 1090 standard.
  • Control all third party requirements for inspection (MPI / UT Etc. )

Manufacturing

  • In conjunction with the Director & Operations Director set the weekly production plan to ensure the efficient operation of resources within the fabrication operation, amend as necessary.
  • Conduct handovers involving the workforce, ensure that all resources are available, to perform the task, monitor during production and ensure a right first-time culture is maintained.
  • Respond daily to the Operations Director to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency levels are maintained throughout the department.
  • Communicate effectively through the working day / week to ensure slippage from the plan is minimised.
  • Control the usage on materials and consumables minimising spend and communicating regularly when expenditure is required.
  • Assist in the organising and ordering of materials when requested.
  • Continually provide help and assistance to workforce, ensuring lost time is minimal and efficiencies are maintained at the highest level.
  • Perform contract reviews with sales / technical and likewise work closely with them for the overall good of the department.
  • Tour fabrication operation on a regular basis supervising quality, productivity and health & safety.
  • Assist when required in the formulation of bids.
  • Work closely with new employees aiding with progress and assisting when difficulties are experienced.
  • Track the performance of the jobs against the estimated hrs, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all throughout the business, both internally and externally.
  • When allocating work to employees ensure that competence is linked to the task in hand.
  • Report all requirements for transport to the General Manager, completing the transport
  • documentation in a timely manner, ensuring all relevant paperwork is prepared in time.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with the workforce informing them of loading, overtime requirements etc.
  • Monthly execution of toolbox talks ensuring register of attendees is maintained & signatures are obtained.
  • Practice good time management and control own overtime to the financial benefit of the business
