TEXO Recruitment are excited to be working with a client based in Darlington that are seeking a skilled and experienced NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) & Lifting Equipment Inspector to perform inspection, testing, and certification of lifting equipment and structural components both offshore and onshore.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in NDT techniques and knowledge of industry standards for lifting equipment. You will ensure compliance with international regulations, client standards, and safety protocols, playing a vital role in maintaining operational excellence.


Area(s) of Responsibility:
Inspection & Testing:

  • Conduct detailed inspections and certification of lifting equipment, including but not limited to cranes, hoists, slings, shackles, and lifting beams.
  • Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) using various methods such as:
  • Visual Testing (VT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT/MPI)
  • Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT)
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Inspect and evaluate structural components and welds to detect flaws, cracks, or defects.
  • Mobilising assets to meet customer timelines, ensuring that all certification and supporting information is provided.
  • On return of rental assets, demobilise and inspect as per internal procedures and service instructions. Carry out necessary repairs and components change-outs, re-certifying the equipment on completion. Verify any repairs and returning assets to stock in a ready-to-use state.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure all lifting equipment inspections and NDT activities comply with relevant standards such as LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations), ASME, ISO, DNV, or client-specific requirements.
  • Generate detailed inspection and NDT reports, including photographs and measurements, and provide clear recommendations for repairs or recertifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date certification records and ensure proper documentation for audits or client review.

Maintenance & Repair Support:

  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with lifting equipment and structural components.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure timely repairs and re-certifications of non-compliant equipment.

Offshore/Onshore Operations:

  • Work on offshore platforms, vessels, refineries, and onshore facilities as required by the project schedule.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) protocols and guidelines during all operations.

Training & Development:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors and technicians when required.
  • Stay updated on advancements in NDT techniques, industry standards, and lifting equipment technology.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND QAULITY

  • Ensure all QHSE policies are followed.

Essential Skills & Certifications:

  • ASNT/ISO9712/PCN Level 2 in MPI, UT, ET & PT
  • LEEA Foundation & General are preferable, but training can be provided.
  • BOSIET w/CAEBS, MIST, UKOOA
  • 5 Years experience in a similar role
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills to support clear & concise report writing using online software
  • Safety First attitude
  • Good communication skills
