Residential Support Worker

  • Hours: 40.5 per week plus sleep-ins (paid at £45 per night)
  • Shift Pattern: 2 shifts on, 4 shifts off (Shifts start at 10am, finishing at 10pm followed by a sleep-in)

We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker for a children’s home in Darlington. This temporary position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a highly established and successful team, dedicated to providing top-notch care and support to young people.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Engage in a variety of tasks including cooking, cleaning, participating in activities and games, and accompanying young people to appointments and meetings.
  • Manage challenging behaviours and provide emotional support and companionship to the young people, including activities as simple as watching TV together.
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing environment, promoting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the young people in your care.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must be flexible and available for shift work including weekends, evenings, and sleep-in duties.
  • Registered on the DBS update service for children.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within residential care.
  • Strong ability to lead, demonstrate, and share best practices with other practitioners.
  • Effective at working closely with psychologists and specialist therapeutic services teams.
  • Capable of handling challenging behaviour effectively and professionally.
  • Passionate about safeguarding, motivating, and inspiring young people.
