Brook Street are currently recruiting for a Admin Officer to work at Darlington Magistrates Court

You will be based in Darlington and will be responsible for a range of admin duties.

Duties Include but are not limited to-

  • File & Document Management: Collect and deliver files for judiciary and clerks, create and track files, bundles, and maintain databases and lists.
  • Court Library Maintenance: Ensure the Court Library is up to date, including e-transcripts and physical resources.
  • Correspondence & Document Handling: Complete standard letters, forms, and documents, draft acknowledgments and confirmations, and update manuals and directories.
  • Post Handling: Manage incoming and outgoing mail, and coordinate inter-office deliveries.
  • Inventory & Stock Monitoring: Track stationery and supplies, order items as needed, and distribute supplies around the office.
  • Data Entry: Accurately update systems, track data completeness, and manage simple cash handling.
  • Equipment Operation: Use office technology, including computers, scanners, photocopiers, and switchboards.
  • Reception & Meeting Preparation: Prepare rooms for hearings, meetings, and trials, and welcome parties to court.


Creating and updating records on in-house computer system - data inputting
Post holder will be required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other general office admin duties reasonably requested by line Management
Skills Required-

Someone who:

Has fast and accurate data inputting skills, general IT skills as well as good knowledge of Word and Excel
Can identify, prioritise, plan effectively and is target driven and is a good Team player
Can communicate clearly, behave professionally and deliver excellent customer service
5 GCSE's including maths and English or equivalent

Monday - Friday

37 hours per week


Rate of Pay: 11.44 per hour.


This is initially a 4 month assignment however it is highly likely to be extended beyond that initial period. The job is based on a 37 hour week, working Monday to Friday. Location is ideal for public transport.
