We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Workshop Manager / Fitter to join our clients' Plant and Tool Hire team in Dartford, Kent.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced, ‘’hands on’’ fitter to put their mark on the department and show what you can do. If you have not yet run your own department but are ready to ‘’step up’’ then our client is really interested in meeting you - progress will be rewarded accordingly.
About the role
This well-established operation has full on-site facilities and a fully equipped workshop at their own premises with a wide range of small, medium and larger size tools and plant associated with construction sites.The department is always busy with equipment going out and coming in on a daily basis and is an important and valued division of the business.As a Workshop Manager / Fitter your duties will include:
- The effective running of the department
- Managing a team of 2-3 fitters
- Documenting and filing service information and safety records
- Fault finding, maintenance, PAT testing and repairs to electrical and petrol tools
- Working on a wide variety of plant to include low level access equipment
- Analytical approach to problem solving
About the hours & salary
In the role of Workshop Manager / Fitter you will work 7am to 5pm from Monday to Friday and the renumeration package is as follows:
- A salary of up to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Contributory pension
- 28 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays
- Discounted rates on stock and equipment
- Access to suppliers discount of goods
- Company shut down from 24th December to the 2nd January
About you
The successful applicant for the role of Workshop Manager / Fitter must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Ability to run the workshop – if you have not yet run your own workshop and are ready to step up then then this is the perfect opportunity
- A relevant mechanical/electrical qualification (or time served)
- Understanding of Hydraulics, Pneumatic, Mechanical and Electrical
- Current PAT testing certificate
- Proven ability to test and run electrical/petrol tools
- Able to work without instruction
- Able to set and maintain high standards
- Good communication skills, both verbal & written
- Full UK driving licence
