Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a large and highly regarded special school dedicated to supporting pupils with Profound, Severe, and Complex Needs. The school operates from their main Longfield site, and across their four other sites in the Dartford area, ensuring that its specialist provision is accessible to a wide range of students.

The school are looking for passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their specialist SEN team across one of their five sites. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a genuine interest in supporting children with learning difficulties, as well as those considering a future career in teaching or special education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils with Profound, Severe, and Complex Needs to access their learning in a supportive and nurturing environment.
  • You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored support, helping pupils develop their communication, social, and independence skills.
  • You'll take part in a range of activities, from supporting students with personal care and medical needs to assisting in swimming, PE, and outdoor learning experiences such as Forest School.
  • Experience working in a special needs school setting is not essential; full training and ongoing support will be provided, and you'll be joining a fantastic, dedicated team.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should have GCSEs in English and Maths, as well as experience working with young people, or adults with additional needs in a care setting.
  • While experience in a school or SEN setting is advantageous, a proactive mindset, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn are equally valued, along with transferable skills from a care background.
  • Ability to use basic technology in an educational setting, including computers, video equipment, and photocopiers.
  • Awareness of policies and procedures related to safeguarding and child protection, health and safety, security, equal opportunities, and confidentiality.
  • Must have the Right to work in the UK
  • Must hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to process one
  • Must be able to provide a minimum of 2 professional references to cover the last 2 years
