Kenny Recruit have partnered with a national charity to find a Social and Communications Officer. Our client support millions of people across the UK, they put time and money into research, they fund raise and the offer support in various different ways.

As a key member of the Communications Team, you will have the passion, drive and understanding to use the power of social media to raise the profile of the charity and to create fresh, engaging content and strong stories to highlight the cause of the charity to create a better understanding and awareness across a number of audiences. The role will report to the Head of Communications, working closely with members of the comms team, and taking the initiative to liaise with other teams, to gather stories and content that will increase awareness to drive influence and highlight commitment to improving the lives of people.

Pay: £25,000 -£30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Location: Dartford (2 days in the office)

Working hours: 9am - 5pm

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Head of Communications and wider Comms team to develop and deliver the social media plan, driving online engagement and increasing influence via social media channels
  • Develop engaging social and digital content, including case studies and stories, sourcing themes from both inside and outside the organisation and planning targeted activity across appropriate social channels. This will include researching and writing case studies and stories and working with the team to organise photography where appropriate
  • Work with the team to create digital content including articles, news items, social media assets and videos
  • Monitor and report content performance to guide future content strategies, targeting and planning
  • Monitor social media and work with Comms team members to access relevant personnel to ensure comments, queries, feedback is all responded to as quickly and accurately as possible (this may include some out of office hours)
  • Assist with the execution of the Charity’s paid social media marketing campaigns
  • Assist with the content management of the website to support Awareness Weeks and topical themes and campaigns
  • Work with the Comms team to provide support and guidance to the wider operational teams to promote the power of social media and its role in creating awareness and influence and to help build digital knowledge and understanding in the charity
  • Proactively research opportunities to engage audiences, to help establish social media as a key and effective driver in our communications activities
  • Working with the Corporate Partnerships and Clinical teams to conceive, develop and deliver funded opportunities which require social media presence and support
  • Maintaining an up to date working knowledge of the social media platforms proactively used to remain abreast of platform develops and trends and adjusting content creation strategies to be always optimized for maximum impact, especially with organic content

Requirements:

  • Experience and understanding of using social channels as part of the communications mix
  • Social media qualification - desirable
  • Ability to write strong copy and create engaging digital content for relevant audiences
  • Understanding of using a wide range of social media platforms channels and how these can be used to positively influence engagement
  • Use of own initiative and tenacity
  • Excellent written and storytelling skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Charity/3rd Sector experience - desirable
  • A competent and credible communicator to various audiences at different levels
  • A creative approach
  • A flexible team working approach
  • Using social media tools such as Hootsuite and Canva as part of the overall channel management of an organization - desirable
  • Working knowledge of the functionality of Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn for business profiles
  • Experience in gathering, understanding and interpreting social media analytics and performance
