Are you passionate about employability, education and committed to helping learners unlock their full potential? As a Functional Skills Tutor with Kirkwood Consulting, you will be engaging and inspiring learners that have had little or no prior education to gain their Functional Skills qualification whilst embedding employability-based certification such as health and safety, customer service and driver theory.

The role

As a Functional Skills English and Maths tutor, you will play a crucial role in helping adult learners develop their functional skills competencies. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons, tailoring your teaching to meet the needs of each individual learner. Your passion for education and dedication to the employability sector is key in ensuring the success of our learners. Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality training lessons.

Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.

Assess learner needs and develop individualised learning plans.

Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.

Support learners in achieving their NCFE qualifications.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the best possibleprogression towards qualifications, and movement into employment.
  • Preparing, delivering and reviewing comprehensive lesson plans for all sessions that address the training needs of the group including basic literacy, numeracy, language and other employability barriers to employment.
  • Completing all the necessary administration e.g. registers, enrolment forms, ILPs, reviews, Awarding Body documentation as determined by external and internal requirements in line with contractual deadlines.
  • Identifying the individual needs of learners ensuring that all learners have an individual learning plan which links to their long-term employment goals.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in education.

The person

A full teaching qualification or Level 4 or above or equivalent (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, CTLLS or DTTLS).

Experience of teaching English and Maths courses required.

Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English.

Experience of teaching unemployed adults.

Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
