  • 3 Month temp contract with a view to then go permanent
  • Immediate start required – Must have right to work in the UK

Role Purpose

To assist in the efficient operation of the M25 Tunnels by undertaking maintenance and other tasks as required by the Shift Manager.

Dimensions

  • Financial: Varies depending on the size of the project(s).
  • Organisational: The role may include direct reports (e.g., students).

Interfaces

  • Internal: Shift Manager, O&M Manager
  • External: Highways England (HE), Subcontractors

Accountabilities

  • Be conversant with Plant Monitoring and Control Systems, including SCADA, PLCs, I/O, networking, etc.
  • Familiarity with a range of electronic/technology equipment, including CCTV, incident detection, radio rebroadcast, telephone networks, fire alarm systems, air monitoring, etc., within the Dartford River Crossing and other M25 Tunnels, under normal and emergency conditions.
  • Perform repair and maintenance of the traffic safety system on the approach to the Dartford tunnels, including sensors, barriers, and traffic signals.
  • Complete required records, including daily worksheets and maintenance report sheets.
  • Read drawings and conduct fault finding and repairs independently.
  • Perform work of a manual, semi-skilled, or skilled nature across various trades under the instructions of the Shift Manager.
  • Drive vehicles as required for maintenance purposes.
  • Ensure all relevant Health & Safety requirements are met, adopting safe working practices at all times.
  • Conduct routine vehicle checks and maintain drivers' hour books in accordance with company procedures.
  • Attend incidents and work safely in line with company policies to facilitate early hazard/incident clearance.
  • Perform other duties within the capacity of a Maintenance Technician as required by Line Managers.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Recognised Electronic or Technology Qualifications or Apprenticeship.
  • IT literate.
  • Cardholder (or willing to undertake training) in (but not limited to):
    • MEWPS
    • Confined spaces
    • CSCS Safety Card

Experience:

  • Experience in routine maintenance and repairs of a wide range of electronics/technology equipment.
  • Practical maintenance or servicing experience with a strong understanding of computer/logic control systems.
  • Fault-finding skills using schematic drawings.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ability to carry out installation work per current legislation/standards.
