This business has had another successful year of sales growth and improvement in profitability, facilitated by new customer acquisition and new product development. A continued focus on investment into systems has delivered cost reduction efficiencies and enhanced gross margin that generated record pre tax profits in excess of £2m for the last financial year. The Directors are keen to further invest in people, processes and operations to ensure the continued success of the operation, a key part of which will involve strengthening the finance team with the appointment of a Management Accountant.

You will be joining a fast paced business in the heart of Lancashire, growing rapidly with the support of an enthusiastic leadership team and sector leading commercial and data management technology. Working closely with the Head of Finance you will take responsibility for producing the companys financial reporting and analysis, ensuring the financial processes, systems and controls are operating effectively within all areas.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare and develop management reporting pack, creating visibility for management team to aid in decision making.
  • Production of monthly management accounts, variance and trend analysis.
  • Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all balances are correct and differences investigated.
  • Production and posting of key journals including wages, accrued and deferred income.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded correctly, filed, and reported
  • Prepare weekly sales report with comparison to Forecast
  • Provide support to finance transactional team, providing cover for annual leave.
  • Assist within external year end audit and statutory accounts.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecast process.
  • Improve processes/key controls, driving efficiencies where possible
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns

Skills and experience required:

  • Preferably studying (CIMA/ACCA)
  • Previous experience in month end reporting
  • Excellent attention to detail with problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines, prioritising workload as required.
  • Ambitious and motivated to progress career
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ideally Sage 200 skills or similar
  • Team Player with excellent communication skills
