Our client college in Carlisle is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teacher to join our team in November 2024 on a full-time, long-term basis. As an SEND Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting and facilitating the educational and social development of students with special needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver effective and inclusive lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with PMLD and ASD.

  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to accommodate individual learning styles and abilities.

  • Create a supportive and nurturing classroom environment that fosters academic progress, emotional well-being, and positive behavior.

  • Collaborate with other teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff to develop individualised Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and implement strategies for student progress.

  • Regularly assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Establish strong communication channels with parents, guardians, and external professionals involved in the care and education of students with SEND.

  • Stay updated with the latest educational practices, policies, and developments in the field of special educational needs, integrating them into your teaching approach.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEND Teacher you will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.

  • Specialisation or experience in teaching students with special educational needs and disabilities.

  • Deep understanding of various learning difficulties, such as autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, ADHD, and speech and language impairments.

  • Strong knowledge of different teaching strategies, interventions, and resources for SEND students.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with SEND.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students in an ever-changing educational environment.

Salary

£600 to £800 per week

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (role will be paid to Main Pay Scale)
