MERITUS are recruiting for a experienced and detail-oriented Tool Prep Operative to support the production and curing process of aerospace composite parts.

TOOL PREP OPERATIVE - UP TO £13.50 PAYE- DARWEN - 12 MONTHS (EXTENDABLE) 4 DAY WEEK (MON-THURS) - 37 HOURS PER WEEK (OVERTIME PREMIUM RATE) - ONSITE ROLE - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW ONSITE

The Tool Prep Operative will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and organising tooling equipment used in the manufacturing of composite and metal components. This role involves working closely with production teams to ensure tools are in optimal condition and available when needed, playing a crucial role in maintaining efficiency and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up tools, molds, and jigs for production, ensuring they are clean, organised, and ready for use.
  • Inspect tooling for damage, wear, or other issues, reporting any findings to maintenance or production supervisors.
  • Perform minor repairs or adjustments on tools as needed to ensure they meet production specifications.
  • Apply release agents, lubricants, and other necessary preparations to molds and tools as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools are stored safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure tooling requirements are met and address any tooling-related issues.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

Skillset/experience required:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or a related industry.
  • Familiarity with tooling, molds, and jigs used in composite and metal component manufacturing.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs or adjustments on tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or with composite and metal materials.
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as AS9100.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
