Product Design Engineer
Salary: £27,000 £40,000 dependent on experience.
Position: Full Time / 8:30 17:00

The Opportunity
As part of our ongoing expansion, the opportunity has arisen to join our team in Daventry Northamptonshire. Working as a key part of the Product Design team, this role will be to create products from conception through to production.
The Person
We are looking for someone with experience / qualifications in mechanical / product design, design engineering or similar using SolidWorks. Ideally someone who has experience with sheet metal products and metal fabrications.
Key Duties
- Designing new products and modifying existing products using SolidWorks CAD software
- You will manage the complete product design lifecycle from brainstorming and concept development to project management and production
- Creating parts lists / BOM's using SolidWorks
- Creating engineering drawings
- Liaising with suppliers
- Physical testing of products
- Producing content for product instruction manuals (training will be given)
- Managing product data and documentation
Requirements
- Strong 3D CAD product design / engineering background using SolidWorks
- Experience with sheet metal and fabrications
- A good understanding of design processes and manufacturing techniques
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Good team working and communication skills sketch, written and verbal
- Self-motivated, organised multi-tasker capable of managing projects
- Must be able to use initiative, suggest ideas and improvements to products
- Competent using PCs and Windows
- General workshop skills
- May be asked to assist with setting up stands at exhibitions in the UK, Europe and internationally if required (approximately 1-2 per year)
- Must be able to lift a 25kg weight to chest height for product testing
Desirable but Non-Essential Skills
- Experience checking and approving engineering drawings
- Experience with aluminium extrusions and plastics would be an advantage
- FEA stress analysis / simulation would be an advantage
- Experience in the AV industry would be an advantage
- Previous experience with a PDM system would be an advantage (training given)
