Primary School Caretaker
Monday - Friday 30 hours per week
31 days + Bank holidays (pro rata)
21,060 per annum
We have an excellent opportunity for a Caretaker to oversee a local primary school and ensure that there is a safe and legal environment for all students, staff and visitors.

Main duties and responsibilities
- Workwithin and complywith policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, health, safety and security, equal opportunities, confidentiality and data protection.
- Workwithin clear guidelines or procedures but can make some non-routine decisions. Advice and guidance from senior staff/manager is generally available.
- Ensure that buildings and the site are secure, including during out of academy hours and take remedial action if required.
- Act as the designated key holder for the academy premises
- Operate and regularly check systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and security (including CCTV and alarms
- Undertake minor repairs (i.e. not requiring qualified craftsperson) and maintenance of the buildings and site.
- Arrange emergency repairs
- Arrange regular maintenance and safety checks
- Oversee onsite maintenance contractors, checking that work is completed to required standards and within required timescales
- Monitor stock and order supplies.
- Undertake general portage duties, including moving furniture and equipment within the academy
Skills required
- Good numeracy, literacy and written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform the physical tasks required by the role including lifting, carrying and pushing various equipment.
- Good, competent IT skills including the use of E-Mail, Microsoft/Google documents
- Good planning and negotiating skills.
- Display a conscientious and logical approach to the variety of tasks necessary for the smooth running of the Academy.
- Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team or individually as required.
- Ability to comply with Health and Safety regulations to ensure that all duties are carried out safely.
- Experience or skills in maintenance duties.
- Ability to understand and apply regulations such as health and safety, manual handling, COSHH, Legionella etc.
- The ability to operate electrical/mechanical systems.
- Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance.
