Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing the commercial aspects of industrial construction projects. You will work closely with senior quantity surveyors and project managers, supporting the delivery of projects on time and within budget while developing your skills and career.



Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation:

    • Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets for industrial projects.
    • Help monitor project costs and ensure they align with approved budgets.
    • Support the preparation and approval of valuations and variations.
  • Contract Support:

    • Assist in preparing and managing contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
    • Ensure contract documentation is accurate and up to date.
    • Help manage contract variations and support dispute resolution when necessary.
  • Procurement:

    • Assist in the procurement process, including tender preparation, analysis, and supplier selection.
    • Support the sourcing and management of subcontractors and suppliers to ensure quality and value.
  • Reporting:

    • Contribute to the preparation of commercial reports for senior management.
    • Help track project financial performance, including cost forecasts and cash flow.
    • Participate in regular reviews and audits of project finances.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with senior quantity surveyors, learning and developing your skills.
    • Collaborate with project managers and site teams to support smooth project delivery.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.


Requirements

  • Experience:

    • 1-3 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the construction industry.
    • Some experience with industrial projects is advantageous but not essential.
  • Skills:

    • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
    • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Proficient in MS Excel and other relevant software tools.
    • Eagerness to learn and develop within the role.
  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
    • Working towards professional membership with RICS or equivalent is encouraged.
