Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

About the Role:Are you an experienced HLTA with a passion for supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are working with a dedicated school in Daventry seeking a qualified SEN HLTA to provide essential support to a small group of pupils. This long-term, full-time role requires someone who can collaborate with class teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an HLTA, particularly working with pupils with SEMH needs
  • Strong understanding of the UK curriculum and SEN settings
  • Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and build relationships with pupils and staff
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Confidence in leading classroom activities and supporting teaching staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead small-group learning sessions tailored to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Collaborate with class teachers to plan and implement effective support strategies
  • Build strong relationships with pupils and manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
  • Provide academic and emotional support to help pupils reach their full potential
  • Step in to cover lessons when needed, ensuring continuity in teaching
