Are you an experienced teaching assistant looking for a new challenge? Do you have a passion for supporting students with additional needs? Would you like to work in an incredibly supportive environment?

Long-Term Teachers work closely with a fantastic special needs provision who are seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working and patient teaching assistant to provide essential support to their post-16 students.

Students have a range of needs, ranging from non-verbal, to students who become dysregulated easily, those with ASD, ADHD and learning difficulties. Some students will be very able despite any barriers they may face. Your role will be key in helping the students achieve their full potential, promoting a positive and nurturing learning environment.

Our client is looking for an individual who is engaging, enthusiastic and willing to get 'stuck in’. You must have a proactive approach and be willing to engage with the students. A lot of the work they do is off-site, no matter what the great british weather is doing! You will be visiting farms, doing gardening, transport training etc. Therefore, it is essential that you are a proactive, outgoing individual that is willing to get 'stuck in’!

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students

  • Assist in implementing personalised learning strategies and interventions

  • Help create a safe and engaging learning environment that supports both academic and personal development

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other staff to support each student’s unique needs

  • Encourage student independence and confidence through structured activities and guidance

  • Driving school cars to transport students to off-site activities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 or small group setting

  • A patient, compassionate and proactive attitude

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both students and staff

  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations

  • You must be have a clean, full UK drivers licence

  • An enhanced child and adult DBS check (or willingness to get one)

Working hours will be 08:45 - 15:45, Monday to Friday, term time only. If you prove to be a real asset to the team, there is an opportunity for you to make this position permanent.
