We're looking for experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Senior Technicians with a strong background in automation. Join our engineering team as we develop a cutting-edge production facility.
About the Role:
As a key member of our team, you’ll:
- Provide specialist engineering support across various production lines, including biofuel power plants, waste wood processing, effluent treatment, tissue machines, and recycling facilities.
- Respond promptly to plant breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving faults to minimise downtime.
- Lead, coach, and train fellow Automation Technicians in your areas of expertise.
- Engage in root cause analysis, identify solutions, and implement improvements.
- Support commissioning for both minor enhancements and major projects like biomass treatment and low-pressure condensing turbine plants.
- Conduct routine tasks such as instrument calibrations, electrical safety checks, and fire system function tests.
- Develop and maintain on-site electrical procedures, risk assessments, and documentation.
- Drive the improvement and development of operations and procedures.
What We're Looking For:
- Completion of a 4+ year apprenticeship and HNC level education (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation disciplines.
- At least 3 years' experience in an Automation Technician role or similar.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
Specialist Skills:
- Ability to interpret P&ID, electrical schematics, and control loop diagrams.
- Proficiency in organising maintenance tasks within your area of responsibility.
- Experience with AC or DC inverter drives, including fault finding, commissioning, and programming.
- Expertise in maintaining and calibrating instrumentation equipment.
- Knowledge of PLC and DCS programming, modifications, and improvements.
- A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to work collaboratively and grow with the business.
- Flexibility to adapt in a changing environment.
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
Working Conditions:
- On-site work within the Utilities production area, on a major construction site.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas for skill development.
